Kill a Tree – Save a Marriage
Remember the Couples Study Bible from Zondervan I blogged about months ago? Well, I was excited to finally get a copy in the mail. It wasn’t the first time I had seen it, I had already stopped at my local bookstore and ordered several copies as gifts. (Shhh, the one below is a gift for Tony and Annie’s wedding, don’t tell them please.) But it was the first time I could indulge in reading the devotionals contributed by myself and others.
In addition to the devotionals, I also wrote 51 of the 52 weekend spreads. I knew my name wouldn’t appear on each one, but I was surprised to see there was no mention of my contribution to these anywhere. When I look at the spreads I can see why, half of it is quoting the marriage expert. The original writing is mostly quizzes and questions–but still, it was a lot of work.
Though I’ve been married almost 18 years, I still learned things I could improve on. With the extra material this is one thick Bible, but perhaps the total material inside will provide both the inspiration and application couples often lack. And if it helps to bring couples closer together or keep them that way, then this all serves a greater purpose. Kill a tree. Save a marriage. ~Jennifer
