Are you a Debbie Macomber fan?

Dyslexic and the mother of four children, Debbie started writing at her kitchen table using a rented typewriter. It took her five years to publisher her first book. But since then she has become a regular on every major bestseller list and has over 100 MILLION copies of her books in print.

As a marketer, I think we can all learn from Debbie’s personal approach. She maintains a list of fans (75,000 120,000 and growing) who’ve signed her guest book, attended her book signings, or otherwise personally corresponded with her and uses that list to correspond with them regularly.

I will be interviewing her at WATC-TV on Friday and I know there are a lot of her fans out there. (And a lot of authors who could benefit from her marketing wisdom.) If you could ask Debbie one question what would it be? Leave me a comment below and I’ll try to get an answer for you.

~Jennifer

PS. Wow! I got the numbers for this post from Debbie’s website and bio, but her publicist just emailed me and said the real numbers are actually higher. Can’t wait to meet her. She is obviously doing something right!

  • Jennifer, So nice of you to get the word out early about your interview with Debbie!

As her personal publicist, I thought you might wish to change the number of readers on her fan list from 75,000 to 120,000, the latter being the current number! (And her reader e-list currently numbers 121,000!).

    You’re going to love Debbie!

  • I would like to ask a huge favor ,I was wondering if there is anyway Debbie would consider donating some autographed books for a raffle drawing and all proceeds will go directly to homeless individuals that are living on the streets.Thanks.

  • I love Debbie Macomber books, she just cannot write fast enough for me. I think I have read all of her books.

I would like to see more of her books made into tv movies. Cannot wait for the Cedar Cove Mysteries on Hallmark!

  • Your Blossom Street series are so good, I am reading them on my new little iPad Mini. They are such an easy read, so personal and enjoyable, it reminds me of when I learned to knit with a group not unlike that in A Good Yarn, more years ago than I care to admit.

I feel like I’ve made a few new friends!
